15- minute Consultation via video platform or telephone : Free

50-minute Individual Counselling Session (via video platform or telephone): $160.00

50-minute Couples Counselling Session (via video platform): $180.00

* We provide a limited number of sliding scale (reduced fees) spots for clients with low/fluctuating income as an exception, on a case by case basis.

Counselling and Psychotherapy services offered by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) are often covered by most private insurance companies and extended health care benefits . Check with your insurance or benefit provider to determine eligibility. We do offer direct billing to many insurance plans. An official receipt will be provided upon payment. You can provide the official receipt to your insurance provider and they will reimburse you directly if we are unable to directly bill a specific plan.

Good News! Registered Social Workers (RSW) are authorized as medical practitioners under the Income Tax Act for the purpose of claiming medical expenses on income tax returns.

Policies

Late and Cancellation Policy

We require 24 hours for cancellation, otherwise you will be charged the full rate for that session. You may cancel by email, phone, or the online scheduling platform we use called Jane. Late appointments are honoured, though you will still be charged the full rate and your original time slot will determine when we finish. Additional time requested beyond our session will be billed as a second hour of therapy at the same rate. No-shows are charged the full rate for one session.

Confidentiality

Our sessions, and the information that we discuss within them, is confidential and will not be shared with individuals outside my practice without written consent, except where disclosure is required by law. Noted exceptions are as follows:

Duty to Warn and Protect
- When a client discloses intentions or a plan to harm another person, the mental health professional is required to warn the intended victim and report this information to legal authorities. In cases in which the client discloses or implies a plan for suicide, the health care professional is required to notify legal authorities and make reasonable attempts to notify the family of the client.
Abuse of Children and Vulnerable Adults
- If a client states or suggests that he or she is abusing a child (or vulnerable adult) or has recently abused a child (or vulnerable adult), or a child (or vulnerable adult) is in danger of abuse, the mental health professional is required to report this information to the appropriate social service and/or legal authorities.
- Minors/Guardianship Parents or legal guardians of non-emancipated minor clients have the right to access the clients’ records.
Insurance Providers (when applicable)
- Insurance companies and other third-party payers are given information that they request regarding services to clients.
Abuse by a regulated health care professional
- If another professional (i.e. doctor, nurse, social worker etc.) is found to be harming you I am mandated to report it to their regulating college.

Consultation

We participate in supervision and case consultations with other mental health professionals to ensure that we can provide you with the best treatment possible. No identifying information will be disclosed – please let us know if you have questions about this process.

Notetaking

We do take handwritten and/or online notes throughout our sessions. These notes are securely stored in our Practice Management Software for Healthcare Professionals called Jane. Jane software is HIPAA and PHIPA/PIPEDA compliant.
